For those who have not heard of Steely Dan before this is a very quick look into Steely Dan. Steely Dan is an American rock and roll band. There are two key members to Steely Dan, Walter Becker and Donald Fagan. The band was a huge hit in the 1970′s. They release seven albums that brought together many musical styles. They were called the perfect musical antiheroes for the seventies by Rolling Stone Magazine. The band regularly changed its members of rock and pop musicians, with Walter and Donald remaining the keystones of the project. Their music has been said to be a complex jazz influenced sound. The lyrics were sharp witted and sarcastic. They would touch on themes that included drugs, crime and a contempt of the hippies from the West Coast.
Walter Becker and Donald Fagan were obsessive in their quest of perfectionism while recording in the studio. The 1980′s album Gaucho took over a year to make and they used 11 engineer and 42 different musicians for an album with seven songs. The band Steely Dan toured between 1972 and 1974. After this they only made music in the studio. Their appeal diminished during the late 1970′s and the group was disbanded in 1981. Steely Dan has a strong cult following. In 1993 there were more Steely Dan live concerts. There were also two more albums with new material. They have sold over thirty million albums worldwide. Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
The partnership again stalled in June of 1981. Donald Fagen released a solo album in 1982 titled The Nightfly. The album went platinum in the United States and the United Kingdom. The album produced a top twenty hit with IGY, International Geophysical Year. The men did attempt to collaborate again but were not satisfied with the results of their work.

When it comes to some of the more hard rocking rock and roll bands then you might agree that Steely Dan is one band that holds its own against many of the new comers to modern music. Steely Dan was an all American band that was formed in 1970s and peaked towards the end of that decade but are still remembered today for some of their great songs. The band members only toured for two years until they became stuck in a recording studio and too busy to make another tour. By the time the 1980s has hit the band had already released seven albums. They were even featured in several rock and roll magazines like the Rolling Stones and other fashion magazines which stated that these guys were the band that lasted the long hard 70s rock era however they did not make it very far past this point. Not many people have bothered with the band after this time and the band slid out of sight and then mind for several years.
Later the band really got going again and by the time 1993 came along they were touring the country again. Many of the old fans came out of the closet and started to follow the band on tour again giving them the much needed support that Walter Becker and Donald Fagen needed to keep going. These two band members where the heart and the soul of the Steely Dan band which like many others of its time have faded in and out of the charts over many years. Some of their albums include Alive in America, Two Against Nature and Everything Must Go which was released in 2003. Even though the boys are getting old now they are almost unstoppable from their shows and tours across America. If you are lucky you will get to see them live before they retire for good this time which will be one experience you will remember for a life time. If you happen to come across some Steely Dan concert tickets then don’t sell them or give them away because the show itself will be something you really enjoy.

There are many types and styles of music that the world has made available to everyone including music that comes from different parts of the globe which is then use by other people to jazz up into something even funkier. The styles of Steely Dan are very individual which is very much like the most famous singers who make it through their own unique sounds. Steely has been around for many years and with all his talent and skills will be around for hopefully many more to keep his fans entertained.
Being a major feature in the 1970 Steely Dan and the rest of his band made it to the big time because they were so great at their jobs as entertainers. Even the most rugged of critics said that their lyrics and songs where a real part of the generation W which survived the rock rebellion of the seventies. Alcohol and drugs where always a problem in his life and where a problem with the band too however some might say that without these influences they would never have been as popular because the teens of that generation knew all about the partying.
Living the fast life was a great way back in the seventies but after going hard for so long there is a wonder that any talent is left in them at all. After their last concert was a bit of a flop compared to the old days there is no doubt that only the older crowd from his generation are able to stand his unique sense of rhythm and song. Until these changes which fans say it should not then only the true old fans will be there following him to the very last step?
